SAILS AND CAP

Back

The sails and cap were successfully removed from the mill

on Tuesday 10th July 2001.  The work had been planned to take two days, but it went well and was completed in one.  The weather on the day was deteriorating, and the very poor forecast for the following day provided an incentive to speed up the operations.  The top of the tower was sheeted with a tarpaulin for the duration of the restoration work

The reinstallation took place on 11th March 2002.  The sails were kept in storage awaiting final repairs and restoration of the internal machinery before they are hoisted back into place on the Windmill.
