DRY STONE WALLING

Back

Volunteers started collecting pieces of stone suitable for use in building a dry stone wall to the west of the tower in the Winter of 2001.  However structural problems were identified and it was proposed that a "gabion" wall should first be constructed, to act as a base for the dry stone wall.

Once the wall was completed work on the stone flags in the basement floor started.

The purchase of the stone flags was made possible due to the generosity of the people who supported our "Sponsor A Flag Stone" campaign.  Thanks to all who donated.

The Basement is now used as the comprehensive interpretation centre which shows the story of the Windmill from 1797 to the present time.
