FRENCH MILLERS VISIT
A party of some 24 members of the French millers group ‘ Les Amis de Moulins de Gironde’ visited Heage windmill on a rather damp May afternoon (May 15th). Six sailed windmills are very rare on the continent and they were really intrigued to find how the mill at Heage worked and was controlled. They were also amazed to find that the mill was operated entirely by the Friends of Heage Windmill – a group made up of volunteers.
Members of the group raided the shop on site seeking souvenirs of the mill and even bought up all our stock of a CD entitled ‘800 years of Windmills’! Eventually the leader of the party prised them back onto the bus – some 45 minutes behind schedule.

M. Charpentier, President of the Amis des Moulins, thanks Alan Gifford (Trustee HWS) on behalf of the party, for their memorable visit to, what was for them, a huge novelty, a six sailed windmill.
